A friend I see once a year visited this morning and brought this gift for us. It is wonderfully appropriate for us.

Size: the trapezoid in middle fits inside my palm. The trapezoid is wire covered with a plastic or nylon string. The other strings are all synthetic nylon/plastic of some sort also.

Until the 13th of this month we were very dry. In the last ten days we have had nearly 6 inches of rain.
It is raining more than once a day. Twice already today, one a massive thunderstorm.
Rain has been so hard that the ground beneath the blueberries is covered blue, the sweet peas and peas have died from rot, the lawn has not been mowed since the 12th, we find rain battered Baltimore butterflies on the lawn and the weeds are on the march.
