Fala Chinchilla

28 Jan

We have a furry visitor now.  He lives in the bathroom.  His ancestors were from the Andes so he fits right in with others in our family.

He spent last week home alone after being in a school classroom for a couple weeks.  That is when he lost his rump fur.  Depressed?  But now he is here and having lots of fun.   He gets plenty of time out from his pen to bounce around and up and off things in the bathroom.  And he has met new friends, too.

He came with chinchilla chow (think rabbit pellets), but like all other creatures in our home he has discovered he likes lots of different foods.  Pomegranate arils, wheat  grains,  wild rose hips, dried mint stems, rudbeckia and aster seed heads, horse hay, ornamental grass heads.

Fala is crepuscular so he takes lots of naps during the day.  He makes quite a variety of little noises, from the loud (for him) snitting to indicate displeasure that you are sticking your hand in his pen, to quiet little hums and high pitched soft grunts to beg for another grain of wheat.  He likes being itched under his chin and forelegs just as Banner did.

So glad to see a new post from you! No pressure, but I check frequently and missed the updates on your cooking, creating, and kids. Much love…

Too much going on here the last month to keep up with everything, so the blog got dropped for a bit.
On the cooking front we have been eating venison soup (think beef noodle), meatloaf, baked potatoes, homemade crackers and springerle.
