All Of A Sudden, or, Beastliness and Beauty

15 Mar

Sudden catastrophe and planned moral evil have been much on my heart and mind, as they have on yours, I am sure.

This morning there was less snow than at any point this year.  And now, this afternoon:

The Eranthis (Winter Aconite) are opening in drifts in four flower beds.  It is actually sunny but still cold.

See the soil in the blossoms?  The hens are outside at work on the flowerbeds, too.  The major reason they are not free-range hens.  Their wandering days are numbered now.  They will spend part of sunny days in the pen we built for Hawthorne encompassing a 500-650 sq. ft. area.

In two beds the Snow Drops are up and blooming also.

Your photos scream spring-looks so different from all of the snow and the squirrels are real cuties.
